Style:

House, Soul, Funk, Disco, Latin/Jazz, some tech edged sounds, through to Chilled. It is difficult to be precise in terms of what I play as I enjoy playing so much - it all depends on the environment and event. Music is too rewarding to be narrow minded and so I am always open to new and different influences.

Background:

I can't remember a time when I wasn't in love with music. As a youngster all I ever wanted for Christmas and Birthdays was a record, tape, or music voucher. I enjoyed learning the guitar and keyboards, but got much more satisfaction from mixing music. Throughout studies and career development music was always there as a passion and so DJing was the most natural thing for me to do. I came runner up in the International DJ Magazine competition some years ago and have played all over the UK and overseas during the last decade.

My influences are many and varied, taking in the likes of Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Deep Dive Corporation, Miguel Miggs, Nitin Sawhney, Grant Nelson and Joey Negro (in all his many guises!). DJs who have exposed new music and inspired me over the years are Danny Rampling, Pete Tong and in more recent times from the Defected label such as Aaron Ross.

For the last seven years I have tutored at the world's leading DJ training school - 'The DJ Academy Organisation'. The Academy runs courses in all aspects of mixing, advanced mixing techniques, vinyl, CD and mp3 mixing, programming, effects, management, promotion, tax, accounts, music production and VDJing in Birmingham, Worcester, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Plymouth and Woking. There is a huge amount of emphasis on the Academy courses on the much understimated technical and business side of the industry, aside from the practical skills. The Academy was established and is run by some of the UK's most accomplished DJs, promoters and producers who have played all over the globe, won every kind of competition and even made the Guiness Book of Records. The Academy has been nominated for best DJ training course by DJ Mag T-Scan. I usually take care of the Cardiff Academy, as well Bristol from time to time.

In terms of promoting, launching New City Sound (and our record label New City Sound Recordings) has been a challenging, but fantastic experience. We set out with a very clear policy of delivering a range of credible, but accessible music, which has been the key to our success. There has barely been a weekend when we haven't played, whether it be bar, club, radio or private function, and very often many times over at the same venue. I am enjoying every moment of what we are doing and get immense satisfaction from the pleasure our work brings to people. The NCS team is made up of great people who simply love good music.

I've also written for Canadian producers Simo T & Paris FZ and one of the best musical acts to come out of the U.K in the last 25 years, K Klass.
