Taking Earth Wind & Fire's disco classic to a new level, magic!

Diary:

New City Sound present Danny Rampling & KKlass, bank holiday Sunday 2 May 2010 @ The Warehouse, Bristol.

Style:

I play house music across the genres – classic house to the latest upfront sounds from the global soulful, funky and vocal house scene.  My experience DJing spans over a decade and so I've picked up many influences and had the good fortune to play at some of the world’s best venues, such as Ministry of Sound, both in the club and on their radio station numerous times (see below for a list of some of my gig history / experience).

Background:

Always having a passion for electronic music, DJing was a natural progression for me when I moved to University following school.  There, I held a residency for four years at the Student Union. Since those days I have moved on and held residencies at nights in Wrexham, Bristol, Peterborough, London and Edinburgh and led to me being in demand in lots of clubs in the UK and Europe.

My DJing career has seen my talents recognised in numerous competitions, from DKO in Peterborough in 1998, to winning Uptown Records (London) mix competition and Defected's Forum competition, amongst many others.

My burgeoning record (and now even more, CD) collection is testament to my love of music. I have many influences from the sounds of ‘Stevie Wonder’ to ‘A Man Called Adam’ and this eclectic taste in music is reflected in the various sets I play. Now a teacher in secondary education, I still maintain a regular roster and frequently play around the UK, as well as with New City Sound.

Giving a bit back too, I run regular DJ workshops at my school where students can learn new skills in a way they don’t get an opportunity to in normal lessons.  I do like to dabble in some music production work, in fact a comment by Neil Bartley (www.neilbartley.com) following one of my gigs at AfterDARK said, "…each time he has wowed the crowd with his impressive turntable skills as well as a CD wallet full of infamous 'Mark Anderson re-edits' and productions."

Expect more of the same at my gigs now!  Working with New City Sound since moving from Peterborough across to the West Country has been a really good experience.  All of the DJs I’ve played with (both residents and guests) have performed to the highest standards when DJing. I’ve been really impressed with the professionalism of the outfit too – with Matt Johnson at the helm I’m delighted to be involved with such a heady set of talent.

A highlight for me not long after joining New City Sound was the NCS Second Birthday event on March 22 2008 at the Warehouse Club, Bristol, with JOEY NEGRO headlining for us.  The whole weekend, with both the pre-party at Revolution and the after-party @ Bijou in Clifton, was one to remember!
